LET'S TALK ABOUT PRINCESS MONONOKE!!

Let me just say first off: this is a magnificent masterpiece. Whatever is happening inside Hayao Miyazaki's mind, it results as something magical. This movie is proof of that. I have had this movie now for about 18 years or so, and it never ceases to amaze me. The astonishing detail, mixed with a beautiful soundtrack, results in nothing less than astounding. To review though, let's discuss the plot.

It starts off with a man named Ashitaka trying to defeat a god. The reason being is that it is possessed by this strange, worm-like organism that is just plain evil. He unfortunately gets some of that on his arm, and soon finds out that it'll tear away his flesh and he will die, without anything he can do about it. A bit later on, it turns out that it also gives him supernatural strength that could decapitate people with just one arrow. Then, he comes upon the titular character of the movie before returning a man whose men got killed, and he was the only one left. He finds her sucking the poison out of her adopted mother-a wolf-so that her mother won't die from what his ailing her. Throughout the journey of him trying to make peace between human and nature-since both are literally at war with each other-he encounters a greedy monk who leads a bounty hunting group, a woman who is the leader of a group of ex-prostitutes that makes weaponry from the iron they find nearby, and of course, Princess Mononoke herself, who wants to kill the woman leader since she is pretty much responsible for destroying a lot of the forest in order to find the iron. A fascinating tale with a surprising bitter-sweet ending.
In short, I give this movie 5/5 for exquisite detail, especially in the scenery and characters' expressions, and even in non-anime circles, this'd be an exquisite film for them to watch. All around excellence.
